Senior Contract Lawyer (India)

As a Senior Contract Lawyer your role involves working closely with the client’s in-house counsel teams globally including in the Americas, EMEA and APAC to provide various types of contracts support. You will be responsible for assisting with substantive transactional support, including reviewing, redlining, drafting and managing obligations for sales, licensing, legal, procurement and other contracts.

Specifically you will:

  • Manage and mentor an initial team mid-level lawyers that will scale over time
  • Manage all aspects of service delivery including service levels and ongoing client relationships
  • Perform quality control function to ensure accuracy of deliverables created for the client 
  • Build training and mentoring programs focused on identifying and bridging skill gaps of team members
  • Draft contracts for specific transactions for which no client templates exist; involves working closely with business to understand the transaction
  • Review and redline contracts in accordance with playbook and legal guidelines
  • Draft amendments, SOWs, notices
  • Compare contracts and highlight differences and similarities in memorandum format
  • Create and update playbooks and process training documents as per regular discussions with client
  • Review agreements against established standards, create deviation reports, and propose alternative positions working from a negotiation playbook or checklist
  • Upload agreements into contract management system and prepare summary reports; facilitate creation and management of content databases
  • Use summary data and other information from signed agreements to improve playbooks, tools, and templates
  • Provide legal research and writing support
  • Deliver services efficiently by creating better processes around the work being provided to the client


  • 5-7 years of experience in the legal domain with at least 3 to 4 year of experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts including procurement, sales agreements, NDAs, software license agreements, other commercial agreements
  • Working in a growing, fast-paced organization with a dynamic environment; legal process outsourcing experience preferred
  • Managing and training teams of lawyers, including developing training and mentoring programs
  • Managing all aspects of delivery of legal support services and providing excellent customer service
  • Preparing process documents, SOPs, tracking, improving SLAs, managing to established metrics
  • Working with multinational clients, including interacting with lawyers in the US, UK, Asia
  • and Europe

Technical Skills:

  • Experienced in Microsoft Products like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Experienced in contract management software, i.e. Ariba
  • Experience using search engines and research databases like Westlaw and Lexis Nexis for legal research assignments


  • Degree in Law from a reputed university
