Privacy Attorney

Elevate’s client, a Global Software Company, is looking for a Privacy Attorney to work at its offices in Santa Clara and assist with data privacy commercial agreements, GDPR preparedness and compliance.

The right applicant needs to be well organized, capable of dealing with senior managers and confidential information plus co-ordinate across different areas.

Specifically you will:

  • Provide support for commercial agreements dealing with data privacy issues.
  • Provide proactive strategic leadership and guidance on privacy and data security issues across global legal and compliance teams to drive partnership, knowledge-sharing and efficiency.
  • Advise on compliance and best practices across all aspects of global privacy and data protection law and regulation, including data use and sharing, analytics, data retention, data security and data breaches.
  • Advise on potential business impact of proposed changes to U.S. and international privacy and data security laws and regulations.  
  • Review collection, use and transfers of user data and draft privacy policies and disclosures.
  • Provide strategic expertise and partnership to the company’s legal teams on a wide range of data protection and other global privacy matters.
  • Provide strategic expertise and partnership to the company’s commercial, advertising and employment legal teams on a wide range of data protection and other global privacy matters.
  • Creatively build upon and drive awareness around privacy and data security issues, including developing and delivering training.
  • Lead data incident response preparedness, including evolving and practicing the Company’s data incident response plan.

Skills for success:

  • Experience with GDPR and privacy issues within a corporation.
  • Strong project management experience and skills.
  • History of driving projects with many stakeholders to completion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently to drive results by following up with stakeholders and escalating complexities.
  • Exercises good judgment to recognize and report red flags and/or risks to completion to manager.
  • Can-do, positive attitude.
  • Experience working within a legal department.
  • CIPP certification.
  • Experience in drafting privacy policies and notices.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Sharepoint).


  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience, preferably in a corporate legal department, with substantial focus on commercial agreements, privacy and data security legal and compliance issues.
  • Experience drafting commercial agreements related to privacy and data security.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills including building strong business partnerships along with achieving results.
  • CIPP strongly preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and to juggle multiple tasks.

  • Flexibility and a positive attitude.


  • Juris Doctor or LLM from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
