Corporate Legal Department Internship

Role Description

Elevate Services has a Unique Internship Opportunity for the right candidate.  This will be the third year of Elevate's Intern Program, and this year's intern will have a split focus between legal research/analysis and legal operations.  Reporting directly to Corporate Counsel of a global legal services company, the intern will be responsible for supporting the "Elevation" of the Legal function of the Company.  The intern will take an active role in two key initiatives: (i) completing integration of the company's entity maintenance platform, BluePrint; and (ii) updating the form and content of Legal's internal intranet site to facilitate "self-serve" resources for internal clients and compliance with governance protocols.  Additional projects may be added as time permits. 

You Might be the Right Person If you...

  • Have the ability to work remotely, with minimal oversight, and a demonstrated ability to independently follow through on projects;
  • Have a genuine interest in learning the role of in-house counsel in a global corporate environment;
  • Are comfortable with technology, including SAAS tools, website design, and SharePoint integration; and
  • Are interested in learning about non-traditional law department management practices.

Specifically, You Will...

  • Evaluate the state of the projects listed in the Role Description at the inception of the internship;
  • Execute on outstanding actions with respect to those projects;
  • Use your unique perspective to bring creative and fresh recommendations as to next steps on those projects; 
  • Engage with counterparts in other corporate functions to leverage additional resources; 
  • Report progress to the GC in a systematic manner; and
  • Present to the company's executive management team at the conclusion of the internship.

Skills for Success

  • This is not a typical law school internship where you'll come to an office, receive direction, conduct basic research, draft a few memos, etc.  This will be much more akin to a "real world" in-house role, in which you'll be given as much responsibility as you can handle, and you'll need to be proactive about requesting guidance and support from the GC in performing your role.  As such, the most critical skill for success in this role is maturity.  You must be serious about managing your time and trying to get the most that you can out of this short experience.

Technical Skills

  • At a minimum, you need to be very proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.  Some experience with website development would be ideal.


  • Completion of 2nd year of law school;
  • Prior work experience demonstrating business acumen and project management skills; and
  • Involvement in your law school outside of required activities (e.g., moot court, independent research with a professor, clubs, clinics, etc.).


  • Completed 2nd year of law school.
