Customer Disputes Lawyer

Elevate is recruiting a Customer Disputes Lawyer with 2-5 years PQE to work for a large telecommunications company in London on an initial 12-month contract.

The successful candidate will work with the Customer Experience legal team, resolving disputes and providing solid legal advice.

Key duties:

  • Maintain and improve internal relationships with members in the Customer Care, Marketing, Digital, Consumer legal, Group legal and Regulatory Affairs teams.
  • Providing assistance on a broad range of projects, as needed.
  • Maintain and improve external relationships with regulators and industry bodies such as Trading standards and the Ombudsman Service.
  • Educate and inform the Consumer division of the requirements and risks involved with actual or potential customer complaints, Ombudsman complaints or small claims litigation.
  • Deliver succinct and precise advice and risk-based reports to stakeholders and management to facilitate decision making.
  • Educate and inform the company of relevant law developments required to ensure compliance now and in the future.
  • Advise on the strategic approach taken within the company, regarding on key legal risks and opportunities and all other relevant strategic matters.

  • Understand the business objectives, processes and systems, plus the legal and regulatory framework in which the Consumer division operates.
  • Have the confidence and ability to influence and provide direction on complex deals.
  • Can communicate with senior stakeholders and management effectively, with the confidence to challenge decisions.
  • Excellent written skills, particularly depicting complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Professionalism in both verbal and written work.

Essential experience and skills for success:

  • Technical lawyer with strong knowledge and experience in telecommunications, with in-house experience being preferred.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, stakeholder management, organisation, influencing and persuading skills.
  • Flexible, and willing to pitch in on all matters and projects, even if the work falls outside your normal scope of duties.

Qualifications:

  • UK Qualified Lawyer with proven experience as a solicitor or legal executive.
